Ameerega macero species highlight

Today’s species highlight is on the Ameerega macero, otherwise known as the Manu poison frog.  It is a gorgeous frog!

Found:

This frog can be found in southern Peru & Brazil.

Habitat:

These frogs can be found in the lowland tropical moist forest, more specifically the bamboo forests.  Eggs are laid on land and the adults carry the tadpoles to streams.  10057365816_3fb38f77fb_k

Threats:

The Ameerega macero is seen as least concern by the IUCN red list, although they are threatened by illegal export and habitat loss.

 

There is not a lot of information on this frog yet, but there will be more information as we learn more about them.
