Lycopodium squarrosum

Origin- Africa, Polynesia, Australia, Thailand, Madagascar, China, Taiwan & Asia

Lighting – shaded areas

Water – damp area are preferred

Soil- medium that has a high percentage of peat moss

This plant is classified as a fern, however it is not a true fern.  This species will do well hung from the top of the background or in a potted plant above the ground as the stems will grow and drape over the edges.  They can grow up to 3′ long/ tall and each stalk will branch off multiple times throughout its life.

Ludisia discolor var. alba

Origin-India to Indonesia and south to SE Asia

Lighting –medium to low light

Water –medium to high moisture


This plant is otherwise known as a jewel orchid.  It is said to be very easy to grow in or out of a terrarium and has small white flowers which appear around Christmas time each year.  The flowers will form on a 10-14″ tall flower stalk.  This plant has many issues with slugs as the slugs find it delicious.

Lighting – Bright light preferred

Water –moist- 2-3 waterings per week.  Allow to dry slightly between waterings.

Temperature-58-88 F

This gorgeous orchid blooms in spring with 2″ blooms.  The leaves will reach up to 12″ long each and numerous 4″ single flowered spikes will appear.
